Transamazônica 2009

In the pace of advenure

After the success of last Transamazônica Expedition, Sérgio Holanda, the responsible for organizing, planning and conducting the group in previous events, launches the 2009 edition of the adventure.

Transamazônica Expedition is an adventure in largest rainforest in the world, along the infamous Transamazonica Highway, with 4x4 vehicles.

The time chosen is the rainy season, which follows the theme of adventurers. "The worse the better."

In that year, the expedition promises cross more than 3000 kilometers over the deep forest, from Nova Mutum/MT to Manaus/AM

Dream of many adventurers, the Transamazônica highway is an exuberant highway in the middle of Amazonian jungle.

There are thousands miles of poor roads, craters which appear in the middle of the track, dangerous bridges and abandoned routes.

This road also guards a wild region, with several natural beauties and unforgettable landscapes.

BR-230 or Rodovia Transamazônica is Brazil's third longest highway, running in an east-west direction.

It was planned and built in the late 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, to connect the isolated state of Amazonas and region with the rest of the country.

It was planned to be more or less 8.000 km long, mostly paved and connecting the North and Northeast Brazilian regions and Ecuador and Peru, but nowadays it is 2.500 km long and mostly unpaved (dirt).

BR-230 was inaugurated in August 30, 1972, and since then did not suffer any major alterations. Other problems were the beginning of deforestation and the creation of numerous small villages along the highway, and traffic is impracticable during the rainy season of the year (October - March). Still, the highway is very important, by connecting the region with the rest of the country.

The 2008 edition we had vehicles of diferent brands "tested" in amazonian roads:

• TROLLER T4: 2.8L, Diesel, 200CV, Mud tyres 33” MUD, ARB.
• TROLLER T4: 2.8L, Diesel, 147CV, Mud tyres 33”, LSD rear diferential.
• TROLLER T4: 3.0L, Diesel, 210CV, Frontiera Tyres, LSD rear diferential.
• TROLLER T4: 3.0L, Diesel, 163CV, Mud Tyres 31”, LSD rear diferential.
• LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110: 2.8L, Diesel, 125CV, Mud Tyres 750x16.
• MITSUBISHI TR4 Automatic: 2.0 16V Gas, 136CV, Cross Tyres 235x70R15, Lift de 3”.
• TOYOTA HILUX SR5: 2.8L, Diesel, 112CV, Cross Tyres.

In that year, the vehicles was:

• TOYOTA HILUX SR5: 2.8L, Diesel, 112CV, 6 ton Ironman winch, Ironman especial suspension kit, radios PX and PY, cross tyres, snorkel.
• NISSAN XTERRA: 3.0L, Diesel,Lift 2", snorkel, mud tyres, all protections.
• TROLLER T4: 3.0L, Diesel, 163CV, Snorkel, radio VHF, GPS, roof barrak, protections, MUD tyres, 9 ton winch.
• NISSAN FRONTIER SEL: 3.0L, Diesel, 200 Bilstein suspension kit. lift 2,5" front 3" rear. 100% ARB lockers, all protections. 9 ton winch. Performance kit by Reiko. Genius tyres Lodo, GPS.
• TOYOTA HILUX SR5: 2.8L, Diesel, 86 CV, LSD on rear diferential, mud tyres, lift 1", snorkel, winch
